Is Willian Really The Premier League’s Overrated Player?

According to a shocking revelation, Willian is Chelsea’s most overrated player at the club and could be sold in the January transfer market itself.

Chelsea is doing extremely well under new boss Maurizio Sarri since the Italian’s arrival in the summer at Stamford Bridge. The Blues are the only club across Europe’s top five divisions that are still unbeaten in all competitions this campaign. Sarri’s attractive and effective brand of football has already gained plenty of praise and plaudits from several pundits and even rival fans.

There is no doubt that Eden Hazard has been Chelsea’s talisman over the past few seasons and his world-class performances have attracted interest from La Liga giants Real Madrid over the recent transfer windows. The Belgian has deserved the praise and affection from most of the Chelsea faithful as the spectators enjoy watching him perform.

However, there is another individual who gets plenty of accolades from fans over at the end of the full-time whistle and that is Brazilian star, Willian. Sometimes, fans and pundits claim that Willian is arguably the most important player in the Chelsea squad. The Brazilian works his socks off whenever he puts on a blue jersey but seems to cheat the media with his conversion rate.

During Chelsea’s 2014/15 title-winning season Willian netted just twice in 36 appearances and in the following season, the 30-year-old scored just three goals more taking his tally to five. But as an attacking midfielder for a club like Chelsea, these figures are just not good enough.

When Willian is presented with a good opportunity to score a goal or put a teammate through on goal, he often tends to waste it. The star forward is just increasing the goal scoring pressure on Eden Hazard and with all things in consideration; Willian just might be the most overrated player in the Premier League-

Willian has been really good for Chelsea and there is no denying his skill and ability to get past players. Maybe he just needs to work on his finishing but by no means is he overrated because he puts in the effort and a shift whenever asked to perform.
