Chelsea has started the 2020/21 season with highs and lows after adding several new faces in this summer transfer window. Now Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham is standing in their way to proceed to the next round in Carabao Cup.
Chelsea took 3 points from Brighton’s game with the help of individual performances while they lost to Liverpool and did stutter against West Brom. But the Blues performed exceptionally well only in Carabao Cup’s Barnsley match where they thrashed them 6-0. Tottenham hasn’t performed that well in terms of the quality they have in their squad. But over time, they are improving after their slow start to the campaign.
Frank Lampard saw his team recovering from a disastrous first 30 minutes in the previous match to rescue a point after trailing by three goals. The coach will expect a much-improved performance, especially from his defenders after failing to produce decent performances in back to back matches.

This game can potentially be the debut game for the new arrival, Edouard Mendy between the Chelsea sticks. Ben Chilwell is deemed to be match fit too and can start the game for the first time in Chelsea jersey in his preferred left-back position. Lampard will try to solve the defensive issues and may start Thiago Silva. Olivier Giroud and Jorginho are will likely get minutes to play from the very beginning.
Jose Mourinho will be without his forward, Son Heung-min due to a hamstring injury. Tottenham’s other notable absentee is Gareth Bal while Harry Kane along with Sissoko might miss the match too.
The absence will be a huge boost for Frank Lampard’s side and they will like to ease past Spurs in the game. It will be a tactical game where Lampard will be up against his old boss, Mourinho who is known to never give up. The players in Blues will get their chance to impress Lampard in order to become a regular starter for Chelsea in the fourth round of the league cup.
