Thomas Tuchel gives worrying injury update for midfield man Mateo Kovacic

Thomas Tuchel sounded out a worrying injury update for midfield man Mateo Kovacic who picked up a knock in Sunday’s win over Crystal Palace.

Tuchel’s men posted a convincing 2-0 win over Palace with second-half goals from Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mason Mount ensuring Chelsea advanced to the final of the FA Cup to take on Liverpool.

Kovacic’s injury, however, came as a major setback for the Chelsea boss Tuchel who admitted in his post match remarks ( as quoted by a report from football.london) that the Croatian international’s ankle injury was a bad one.

“When Kova comes off, you know that he is in pain.

“The ankle is swollen, it’s a huge ankle right now. So let’s hope.

“It doesn’t look so good but we will wait for the examination and we can tell you more.”

Chelsea would hope for a swift return to full fitness for the former Real Madrid man Kovacic who has emerged as one of the top performers over the course of the season at Stamford Bridge.

The west Londoners remain in the fray for FA Cup glory after tasting defeat in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool besides hoping to secure a top four berth in the Premier League.
