Frank Leboeuf warns Chelsea fans to strop dreaming about a top four finish

Former French player Frank Leboeuf has described Chelsea as a mid-table team and warned fans not to get their hopes up about finishing in the top four this season.

Despite the Blues recently notching two consecutive wins, some supporters had started to feel more positive about their season.

However, it’s important to note that Chelsea had managed just one victory in their first six Premier League matches, leaving them in 14th place in the league standings.

While Leboeuf’s comments may be tough for the fans to hear, he makes a valid point. Despite recent positive results, the club’s ongoing struggles with finishing could cause problems.

While talking to talkSport, he said:

“Right now, Chelsea is a mid-table club. You have to be realistic. You have to stop dreaming. Some fans are expecting to finish in the top four. I have to say they are dreamers.”

On the defensive front, Chelsea have shown improvement, boasting the most clean sheets in the Premier League this season.

However, to be competitive for a top-four finish, they’ll need to elevate their performance.

Chelsea’s upcoming fixtures include matches against Burnley, Arsenal, Brentford, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Newcastle United, Brighton, and Manchester United after the international break.

These games will provide a tough test and will require the Blues to step up their game further. If Mauricio Pochettino’s side doesn’t score goals then they would slip further in the points table after the international break.

There is a lot of work to do and the fans should be calm in this situation rather than making unrealistic expectations.
