Federico Valverde rejects Chelsea’s approach in favour of Real Madrid’s stay

Spanish outlet AS has reported that Chelsea have shown interest in Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde. The versatile midfielder has been approached by the West London club regarding a potential transfer during the upcoming summer window.

However, the 24-year-old has expressed his desire to remain with Real Madrid and is not interested in leaving the club at this time.

Valverde has made significant progress in his career since joining Madrid from CA Penarol in July 2016. The Uruguayan player initially faced some challenges, but once he established himself in the first-team squad, there was no turning back.

Valverde’s versatility has proven to be a valuable asset for Real Madrid in recent seasons. Under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti, the midfielder has thrived, particularly in his role as a right-winger last season.

He impressively contributed 12 goals and seven assists in 56 appearances across various competitions. However, with Real Madrid securing the services of Jude Bellingham, several midfielders, including Valverde, have attracted interest from top-tier clubs.

The Uruguayan has caught the attention of Liverpool and Manchester United, while Mauricio Pochettino reportedly wants Chelsea to secure his services as soon as possible.

According to AS, the Blues recently approached Valverde for a potential summer transfer, as they have lost several midfielders and are in need of a top-quality addition.

However, Real Madrid has no intention of entertaining any offers for the versatile 24-year-old, as he is considered a key figure by coach Ancelotti.

Valverde himself has rejected Chelsea’s approach, as he aspires to become the captain of Real Madrid in the future. Therefore, Valverde is not interested in leaving Real Madrid at this time, leaving the Blues to explore other options in their pursuit of midfield reinforcements.
