Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia to prioritise contract extension for Jorginho

Chelsea’s sporting director Marina Granovskaia is understood to be pushing hard to prioritise a contract extension for star midfield man Jorginho.

The Italy international maestro has been a vastly influential figure in the centre of the park for the west Londoners since Thomas Tuchel took charge earlier this calendar year and brought about a major turnaround at Stamford Bridge.

Joringho’s stellar run of displays in midfield were key to Chelsea winning the Champions League last season and the Blues have maintained their form in the ongoing campaign with Tuchel’s men sitting at the summit of the league table.

With Jorginho’s current deal with the Chelsea camp set to expire in the summer of 2023, Marina Granovskaia has been backed to get the talks underway with the midfielder’s representatives to renew his terms in the English capital.

Talking to 1 Football Club ( via football.london), Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos has revealed that Granovskaia plans to tie down Jorginho to a new long-term deal despite speculation of a return to Napoli for the 29-year-old Italian.

“Never say never [to Jorginho returning to Napoli], because the market is very dynamic. [Chelsea director] Marina Granovskaia, however, has already let us know that she wants to renew his contract, so we’ll see what happens.”
