Chelsea defenders Disasi and Badiashile reveal their strong bond at Monaco

Chelsea defenders Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile have revealed the strong bond they developed during their time at AS Monaco in Ligue 1.

In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, the pair discussed Chelsea’s urgency to be competitive right away rather than going through a transitional phase.

Both Disasi and Badiashile had successful spells at Monaco, which earned them transfers to Stamford Bridge.

Both defenders expressed their appreciation for the time they spent together in Monaco and the strong connection they developed there. Nevertheless, their focus is now on the challenges they face at Chelsea. Disasi said:

“We know Chelsea is a club with a rich history and ambitious goals. We’re here to contribute to the team’s success immediately.”

Badiashile further added:

“This club has a tradition of winning, and the fans expect us to compete at the highest level. We cannot afford to be in a transition phase; we have to hit the ground running.”

Chelsea’s landscape is undergoing a transformation. In the era of Roman Abramovich’s ownership, the club was a dominant force, consistently contending for top honors in domestic and European competitions.

However, with the arrival of the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital consortium last year, the Blues experienced a midtable finish before making significant squad changes this summer.

This transitional phase has seen the club acquire young talents like Disasi and Badiashile. However, the duo arrived with a clear determination to uphold Chelsea’s tradition of competitiveness.

In the highly competitive environment of football, there is no allowance for a period of adjustment or transition.

The expectations are exceptionally high, especially at a club like Chelsea with its storied history and demanding fan base. Falling behind is not an option.
