Barcelona weighing up a move for Chelsea’s wantaway midfielder N’Golo Kante

Barcelona are rumoured to be weighing up a move for Chelsea’s wantaway midfielder N’Golo Kante who is out of contract at the Bridge next summer.

Kante’s future has become the subject of ferocious speculation in recent weeks amid suggestions that the French midfielder was not impressed by Chelsea’s offer to renew his terms by an initial two-year deal with an option of a further 12 months.

According to a report from The Evening Standard ( via The Daily Express), it is claimed that Kante has emerged as a viable name on the transfer radar at Barcelona with head coach Xavi giving his nod to kick start the negotiations with Chelsea.

The World Cup-winning maestro will be able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement from January and Barcelona are expected to step up their efforts and land the 31-year-old on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Xavi considers Kante to be the perfect replacement for the ageing Sergio Busquets and the former’s arrival at Camp Nou could be the addition which is required to complement the young likes of Pedri and Gavi.
