The Blues have opened transfer negotiations with Italian giants Juventus FC and have made an opening bid for Bosnian midfielder Miralem Pjanic.
The player has been linked with a move away from the Old Lady for quite some time now, with several sides besides Chelsea FC such as FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain being interested in securing the Juventus FC player’s transfer.
And now reports emerging from Italy have indicated that Pjanic has mulled over Chelsea FC’s offer for him and has considered the possibility of moving to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
However, Spanish giants FC Barcelona is still the preferred destination for the former AS Roma player Pjanic. The possibility of playing alongside Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann at Camp Nou seems to be a major motive for the 30-year old midfielder to seek a move to FC Barcelona.
Moreover, the Spanish side are willing to let their midfield star Arthur Melo go in the other direction and are wanting to conclude a swap deal with Juventus FC. However, Arthur’s insistence on staying at Camp Nou has led to an obstacle in the ongoing talks between the two sides.
The move from Chelsea FC for Pjanic comes amid new speculation that has arisen that the Blues will follow a major transfer policy change ahead of the start of the 2020-21 campaign.
Chelsea FC manager Frank Lampard has shown himself to be a big spender this year, having finalized the transfers of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner.
With Pjanic, Kai Havertz and Ben Chilwell next on the list for Lampard, it has been decided to let certain Blues players depart in order to raise substantial funds to finance the desired signings. Chelsea FC will reportedly sell one of their players for every new signing they make in the future. Such a step would ensure financial stability on the Blues part and would help manage the wage budget of the Premier League side.
World-Cup winning star N’Golo Kante is rumoured to be close to a move to Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain, with Frank Lampard having realized that selling the 29-year old French international would bring in a huge amount of funds to secure the signings of Pjanic and Chilwell.
Moreover, Italian midfielder Jorginho has been constantly linked with a move to Juventus FC, and Blues left-back Marcos Alonso has also been told that his time at Stamford Bridge is up.
