Chelsea FC target keen on sealing a move to The Blues in the summer

Reports claim that Chelsea FC target Ben Chilwell is keen on sealing a move to Stamford Bridge with news that the Leicester City player has spoken to his team manager Brendan Rodgers regarding the transfer.

Chilwell has emerged as the Blues coach Frank Lampard’s target signing ahead of the start of next season. Lampard is believed to rate the English left-back very highly and has conveyed his interest in signing the player to Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich. Chilwell is reported to be valued at a sum of £85million by Leicester City.

The performances of the player since emerging through the ranks at Leicester City have been terrific and has led to the left-back being included in the England national squad on a few occasions. A host of top Premier League clubs are believed to be interested in signing Chilwell, with Chelsea FC and Manchester City FC emerging as front-runners in the race to sign the fullback.

The ongoing speculation regarding the players future at Leicester City has compelled Chilwell to speak to Brendan Rodgers regarding a possible switch to the Blues in the summer transfer window. Chilwell is believed to have explained his desire to move to Chelsea FC to Rodgers and his future ambitions as a player, which he believes will be better suited if he signs for The Blues.

Chelsea FC have been on the hunt for a new left-back since a long time with manager Frank Lampard identifying several targets. Porto’s Alex Tellas, Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico and Chilwell are among the players that Lampard wants to sign for the left-back spot in the Chelsea FC lineup. Current left-back Marcos Alonso is very likely to be sold by the Premier League club due to his string of poor performances and inconsistent form.

Chilwell has played a huge part behind Leicester City’s brilliant 2019-20 Premier League season. Leicester are currently third in the Premier League table and are on course to qualify for next seasons UEFA Champions League if they continue to carry on their excellent form after the restart of the Premier League which is scheduled for 17th June. Chilwell has asserted his belief that his current team have what it takes to nail down a top-four finish and qualify for Champions League football next season.
