Wing-back Emerson Palmieri wants to call it quits at Chelsea this coming summer with the Italian keen to stay put with Lyon going by his recent comments.
Emerson made the move to Lyon last summer in a season-long loan deal with the former Roma man struggling for regular game time at Stamford Bridge under the charge of Thomas Tuchel.
In an interview with Foot Mercato, Emerson has revealed his intentions of leaving the Chelsea fold ahead of the start of the 2022-23 campaign with the Italy international defender happy to extend his stay in the Lyon shirt.
“Of course, yes, I have no problem saying that I can stay at OL.
“It’s a pleasure to be here. There are different factors. It doesn’t just depend on me. There are still six games to play, and then I will have an answer to give you all.”
He is contracted to Chelsea until the summer of 2024 but the west London giants could be forced to part ways with the wantaway left-sided wing-back in another blow to Tuchel’s plans of bolstering his ranks at the back.
The Chelsea boss Tuchel is already staring at the possibility of losing both Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger in the summer with the former set to join Barcelona on a long-term contract.
