Maurizio Sarri has confirmed that Willian will stay at Chelsea and has given a stop to all the speculations being made about the midfielder being transferred to either Barcelona or Manchester United. Chelsea rejected the £55 million bid by the Spanish club which lowered Barcelona’s interest in the right winger.
In a recent interview Maurizio Sarri confirmed that the Brazilian who came late to the pre-season due to his passport issues, was not happy with the delayed arrival of the midfielder but is confident that Willian is going to play this season for Chelsea under him. He was also the target of United Manager Jose Mourinho who was ready to offer £70 million for the 29-year old.
Along with Willian, the goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is also speculated to leave Chelsea and join European giants Real Madrid. When asked about both the midfielder and the goalkeeper, the Italian coach was ‘very confident’ that the winger was going to stay but was less certain about Thibaut Courtois’ transfer.
“I spoke yesterday with him about him being late, but not about his future,” said Sarri. “It was a very positive conversation. I am happy about it. There is not a problem with Willian.”
Finally there is something for Chelsea fans to cheer for, who will finally see the likes of Willian in a Community shield battle against Manchester City on Sunday.
