Willian has cast uncertainly over his future with the player suggesting that he could stay at Chelsea FC beyond the current season. The winger has been widely expected to depart the Blues following the end of the 2019-20 Premier League season.
Chelsea FC had tied down the Brazilian international to a short-term contract extension recently. The extension would have seen Willian play out the remainder of the current Premier League season for the Blues. Frank Lampard is hoping to seal a top-four finish for his side and is aware of the contribution Willian can make towards the cause.
The 31-year old attacker has been linked with a move to Manchester United FC, according to recent reports. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is wary over the wage demands of the Chelsea FC player. As a result, talks between Willian’s representatives and Manchester United FC have hit a snag.
Now, Willian has caused more speculation to float regarding his future stay at Stamford Bridge, by stating that he may extend his seven-year stay at Chelsea FC further. However, the player refused to entertain any more questions concerning his future. He claimed that his current goal is to help his side achieve a top-four finish in the Premier League table.
Willian scored the match-winning penalty in the Blues lastest game against Manchester City FC. The win at Stamford Bridge helped Liverpool FC being crowned as the 2019-20 Premier League champions. The Brazilian international has been in fine form for Chelsea FC post the lockdown period.
Frank Lampard would be optimistic about his chances of persuading Willian to stay with the Blues beyond the end of July. The player has proven himself to be a fantastic winger with a great eye for goal. Since joining Chelsea FC in 2013, Willian has amassed more than 250 appearances for the Blues.
However, Lampard has finalized the signings of new attacking reinforcements in the form of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech. Both players will join their new Chelsea FC teammates next month. Their arrivals may convince Willian to leave Stamford Bridge over fears of getting fewer opportunities on the pitch.
