Perdro and Willian agree upon short-term contract extensions at Chelsea FC

Chelsea FC attackers Pedro and Willian have both agreed to short-term contract extensions which would see them play for the Blues until the end of the 2019-20 campaign. Initially, both players were set to depart the club at the end of June.

With the Premier League season having been extended till the end of July due to the unexpected three months break earlier due to lockdown, many players have signed short-term contract extensions.

However, both Chelsea FC wingers won’t play any part in the remaining fixtures of the Blues Champions League campaign. The remaining games for Chelsea FC in the Champions League are bound to be played in August, by which both players have no intention of staying at the club.

In extending their stay at Stamford Bridge till the end of the current Premier League season, Frank Lampard will be extremely happy. The Blues are on course to seal a Champions League spot for next season and would be hoping to do the same in a swift fashion.

With Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner arriving in the summer ahead of next season, the Blues won’t be short on attacking options then. However, for the time being, Frank Lampard must rely upon the experience of Willian and Pedro.

Willian started the recent Chelsea FC game against Aston Villa while Pedro was an unused substitute. Both players are important towards the Blues hopes of a top-four finish in the Premier League.

There was speculation earlier about Willian and Pedro not being keen on extending their stay at Stamford Bridge. However, such rumours did not materialize as both wingers have agreed to continue playing in the Chelsea FC shirt till the end of July.

After the end of the current Premier League season, however, both attackers would become free agents. Frank Lampard is believed to be not eager on extending long-term deals to either of the two.

Willian has been linked with a move to Premier League sides Manchester United FC or Tottenham Hotspurs in recent weeks. As for Pedro, the Spaniard is known to be keen on a move to the Serie A. Italian giants AS Roma are being known to be the frontrunners in the race to sign the 32-year old.
