West Ham United edge closer to signing Chelsea wing-back Emerson Palmieri

West Ham United are reportedly edging closer to landing the signature of Chelsea’s Italian wing-back Emerson Palmieri in a deal worth £15 million.

Emerson has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in this summer’s transfer window with the former Roma man not expected to have a future in the Chelsea shirt under Thomas Tuchel’s charge.

According to a recent tweet by the transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, West Ham and Chelsea have struck an agreement on an initial £13 million fee plus a further £2 million in add ons for Emerson to make the move to the London Stadium.

Signing for The Hammers ensures that the 28-year-old Emerson will be ensuring regular first-team football ahead of the World Cup later this year in which the defender hopes to secure a berth on the Azzurri team sheet.

Chelsea had brought in Brighton wing-back Marc Cucurella recently in a big-money deal with the Spaniard set to compete for the left full-back role with the England international Ben Chilwell over the course of the season.
