West Ham United drops plans to sign Chelsea man Kurt Zouma this summer

Kurt Zouma could be in line to stay put at Stamford Bridge beyond this summer’s transfer window despite the speculation that has surrounded the defender’s future in recent weeks.

Reports from The Sun claim that Zouma’s long-term admirers in the transfer market West Ham United have scrapped their plans to make a move for the centre-back due to his wage demands which are considered too inflated by The Hammers.

With Zouma seeking a £120,000-a-week payout should he make the move to the fellow Londoners, West Ham boss David Moyes has decided against reviving his club’s interest in signing the France international who is open to leave Thomas Tuchel’s camp before the deadline day later this month.

Chelsea are understood to have given the nod to Zouma to head out the exit door but the player’s demands are certain to disturb West Ham United’s wage structure which explains their dropping of plans to bring in the Blues first-teamer.

Zouma had found his suitors in West Ham earlier this summer following the Frenchman refusing to move to Spain as a part of Chelsea’s cash-plus-player offer for Sevilla’s highly-rated defensive mainstay Jules Kounde.
