West Ham United confirm signing of Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma

Kurt Zouma has finalised his switch from Chelsea to West Ham United with the France international centre-back penning a four-year-long deal with his new side.

The player had been long backed to call it quits at Stamford Bridge in this summer’s transfer window amid The Hammers credited with a strong interest in landing his signature despite the deal running into some trouble on various fronts.

Zouma’s wage demands had earlier been suggested to be a major roadblock for West Ham United in their pursuit of the defender and just before Tuesday’s deadline day there had been reports of the player’s medical examination sounding out worrying signs.

Reports from West Ham United’s official website confirm that the club have succeeded in bolstering their options at the back by confirming Zouma’s arrival on a long-term contract which has set them back by £29.8 million in transfer fees.

For Chelsea, Zouma’s exit gives Thomas Tuchel some respite on creating a vacancy in his first-team ranks which could lure the German into making one final attempt to sign his long-term target Jules Kounde from La Liga outfit Sevilla.
