Timo Werner 50% happy despite scoring two goals against Southampton in 3-3 draw

Frank Lampard’s side was ahead of two goals following Timo Werner’s sublime double, in just about 30 minutes. Yet Southampton pulled one back soon before the half time. The mistake of Kai Havertz led to the goal of Danny Ings.

To compensate for Southampton, Che Adams then made the most of the two errors from Kurt Zouma and Kepa Arrizabalaga, after the interval.

Although scored a brace for the team, Timo Werner thinks that the first half that they played was very satisfactory. Chelsea’s striker remarked that when one concedes a goal, that is two or three minutes before half-time, it is not comfortable or trouble-free in any way. The capability to think with a clear head is of utmost importance.

“Southampton make a lot of pressure on us and pressed us high. We gave them too much in terms of opportunities. We have to win the game. I am happy about the goals but I want to win the game,” said the German international as per ESPN reports.

The striker also elaborates,” In the second half, Southampton put a lot of pressure on us and pressed us high. I think we gave them too many opportunities to score goals. We have to win the game.”

Werner exclaims that he is happy about his goals in the end, yet having said that, he also wishes to succeed in the game. Conforming to the striker himself, it was a day where he was 50 per cent happy and 50 per cent not contended.

When enquired about Chelsea’s weak Defense, Werner replied: “I don’t know if we have a problem but in the end the last three games we concede six goals and that’s not where we want to be. I think we are Chelsea, we want to battle for titles.”

Undoubtedly the 24-year-old star has earned quite a reputation with his ability to deliver the end product, that we have witnessed at Stamford Bridge already. The club’s youngest goalscorer is undoubtedly one of European football’s most flourishing frontmen and an asset for Chelsea who can provide more upfront.
