Trevoh Chalobah picks up hamstring trouble in fresh injury blow for Chelsea

Central defender Trevoh Chalobah picked up a hamstring issue in Sunday’s draw against Liverpool in a fresh injury blow for Chelsea.

Thomas Tuchel’s concerns on the injury front have failed to subside in recent weeks during the festive period and the Chelsea manager will now have to deal with the aftermath of Chalobah’s knock.

The 22-year-old defender started at the back for the Blues in the weekend’s Stamford Bridge showdown against title rivals Liverpool with Andreas Christensen sidelined with a serious back issue.

Despite a nervy start to the game for Chalobah, he geared up for a solid display in the heart of the Chelsea backline but had to be forced off the pitch after 70 minutes with his injury set to be subject to further assessment ahead of the midweek commitment in the Carabao Cup, according to reports from football.london.

Tuchel could be forced to issue a recall to fringe first-teamer Malang Sarr to make up for Chalobah’s likely absence in the forthcoming first leg of the semi-final clash at home to Tottenham Hotspur.
