Timo Werner’s off-form has nothing to do with Germany’s 6-0 thrashing by Spain

Chelsea’s Timo Werner is being questioned because of the goal drought he is currently facing and his back to back missed chances in front of goal. This was questioned to Frank Lampard if he is worried about the form Timo Werner is on.

The Chelsea coach made it clear that although Timo Werner is goalless in five matches, he is still influencing the team in many ways and will soon be back on the scoresheet.

The German international joined Chelsea from the German club, RB Leipzig in the summer transfer window. Till now Werner has netted eight goals in 17 games that he has played.

The stats show it as a decent display if we consider that he has joined a totally new club and a new league just months back.

His current form of not getting into the scoresheet since the last international break where Germany was thrashed 6-0 by Spain didn’t worry Lamaprd but the coach certainly stressed the fact how the German striker has been impressive on and off the field since he arrived.

‘I have no worries about Timo,’ said the Chelseea coach as per the Official Chelsea website.

‘He has come into this league and made a big impact straight away with his speed, direct nature, and things he is creating for the team. He is getting lots of chances, he makes lots of chances through his explosive nature and his eye to be in the right areas.

‘Timo is going to be a huge player for this club. He has scored some goals already, of course, he will want to be scoring more, he has missed a couple but if he keeps getting there he will score those goals.

‘I don’t think the Spain game has got anything to do with it,’ added Lampard.

‘I spoke to him after that game and it didn’t feel like it was a negative thing that was going to carry over. He played at Newcastle in the next game and ripped them through on about five occasions. He was so dangerous even though he didn’t get his goal. It’s a small moment all strikers have and I have no worries.’

Lampard assured that Werner will find the net and that every striker goes through some bad patch and needs time to adjust to the new surroundings.
