Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel admitted he was unhappy over Romelu Lukaku’s recent outburst with his situation at Stamford Bridge.
The summer returnee’s recent interview to Sky Sports Italia has irritated his boss Tuchel who has had to deal with his side’s drop in form which saw them being held to a 1-1 affair by Brighton last time around in a blow to the title hopes.
Chelsea have recorded three draws across their last four outings in Premier League football which has resulted in Manchester City opening up a sizable gap at the summit and become poised to retain the top flight crown.
Tuchel remained coy over the possibiliuty of Lukaku would facing disciplinary action but said the 28-year-old’s remarks had hurt Chelsea’s focus ahead of an all important league meeting against rivals Liverpool on Sunday.
Addressing the controverry in his pre-match press conferrence in the build-up to the weekend’s showdown on home turf, Tuchel insisted that he would speak to Lukaku in light of his recent comments which has blown up a storm for the west Londoners.
“We don’t like it.
“It brings noise that we don’t need and it’s not helpful. We don’t want to make more out of it than it actually is. It is easy to take lines out of context, shorten lines, make headlines and then realise later that it is not so bad. We need a calm environment and focus and this does not help.
“I don’t feel him unhappy.
“I feel the exact opposite. That’s why it’s a surprise. If there is something to discuss it’s behind closed doors. It does not reflect his daily work.
“But you need to ask him. Everything you say is out there if you are such a big player like Romelu. He is experienced and should know what kind of value it has when he speaks out like this.”
