Thomas Tuchel pushing for Chelsea to extend Antonio Rudiger’s contract

Thomas Tuchel is believed to be pushing for Chelsea to extend Antonio Rudiger’s contract despite the player’s wants of a wage bump to pen extended terms at Stamford Bridge.

Rudiger has evolved into a star regular for Tuchel since his hiring to the Chelsea job earlier this year but the Germany international centre-back finds himself without a deal at the club next summer.

The likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have been credited with a strong interest in making a move for the 29-year-old come January when he will be free to negotiate pre-contract terms with his suitors in the transfer market.

Reports from The Daily Express have now indicated that the Blues boss Tuchel is demanding Chelsea to resolve differences on the contract front with Rudiger and tie him down to a new long-term deal amid the increasing interest from elsewhere in the defender.

It is understood that Chelsea have tabled a £125,000 a week offer in front of Rudiger, who currently pockets £100,000 a week, but the German has snubbed the deal as he holds out for a greater increase in his wages.
