Thomas Tuchel has issued high praise for a surprise Chelsea hero in Ruben Loftus-Cheek who has stepped up to the mark with his recent showings.
Loftus-Cheek had been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in this summer’s transfer window following a dismal loan stint at Fulham last season with the Craven Cottage outfit unable to survive the drop zone.
There had been the talk of a number of sides across the country keeping tabs on the England international but it came as quite the shock when the midfielder ended up being retained by the Blues beyond the summer window.
He has been a breakout performer for Thomas Tuchel’s camp in recent games and put on a solid display after coming off the bench during the weekend’s defeat to Manchester City in Premier League action for Chelsea, their first defeat of the new season.
Loftus-Cheek’s return to the first-team fold and subsequent displays have earned the 25-year-old high praise from his boss Thomas Tuchel who has given the player a run of three straight outings across all competitions, quote reports from the club’s official website.
‘I was happy with Ruben, otherwise he could not have had the chance to come on,’ says his manager.
‘He played against Zenit and he played against Aston Villa, and now he played this 15 minutes. He could not be involved without deserving it.’
