Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel sounded out hope that wing-back Ben Chilwell’s injury is not too serious following his withdrawal in the win over Juventus on Wednesday night.
The England international came off in the midweek outing at Stamford Bridge towards the later stage of the game with Tuchel confirming in his post-match remarks that Chilwell had felt pain in his knee.
Tuchel, however, remained hopeful that Chilwell could be in the mix to feature over the weekend when Chelsea take on Manchester United as the defender’s injury trouble will be subject to assessment, claim reports from BBC Sport.
“Ben was in a lot of pain at the time on the pitch, but now he feels a little better.
“Hopefully we will get away with not-too-bad news.”
The Blues emerged convincing victors against Serie A heavyweights Juventus in a 4-0 scoreline with goals from Trevoh Chalobah, Reece James, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Timo Werner sealing the job on home turf.
Thomas Tuchel’s side are now through to the Last-16 of the UEFA Champions League with a game still left to play for in the group stage fixture list.
