Olivier Giroud has insisted that the veteran defender, Thiago Silva will bring experience and leadership to Chelsea.
The Chelsea striker has backed the Brazilian defender to “adapt very quickly” with the style of the Premier League. He is confident that the presence of Silva will help the young Chelsea defense to a large extent.
His leadership abilities in the backline will boost the chances of Chelsea to win the Premier League title in the upcoming season.
Thiago Silva rejected PSG’s request to stay for one more year after he led his club to the Champions League final. He ended his eight long years spell in pairs to join Chelsea this season.
Despite the age, Giroud thinks that Silva has plenty to offer to the Blues. He bets that the defender will certainly be a valuable asset and a role model for the dressing room’s youngsters.
“He can bring his experience, his background, and his leadership.
I think the coach took him for that. We have a lot of young players,” the French striker told in an interview.
“He still has his qualities, of course, even if like me he is getting a little older, but I’m sure he will bring us a lot.”
“He is going to discover a new league and I am sure he will adapt very quickly.
We have a lot of ambitions this year with the recruitment and I hope we can join the race for the title,” he added.
The 35-year-old captained PSG in the UCL final against Bayern Munich where his side suffered a 1-0 defeat. He was arguably the best player of PSG in the whole tournament.
