Chelsea defender, Kurt Zouma has expressed his excitement to work and learn from the new summer arrival, Thiago Silva. The veteran defender arrived at Stamford Bridge in this transfer window as a free agent and has brought quality in the backline and enough top-level experience to boost the Blues’ side.
25 years old Zouma seems to get hold of his centre-back position in Chelsea as he is the one who is consistently featuring in all the games this season and now he has got someone more experienced and talented than him besides.
The Brazilian defender, Silva was the captain of European giant, Paris Saint Germain and delivered a string of impressive performances in last year’s run to the UCL final.
The Blues coach, Frank Lampard signed him this summer to add more experienced and maturity in their defensive department and he can be someone who can inspire a lot of young talents in the clubs. Chelsea’ french defender, Zouma himself is in awe of the quality the 36 years old posses.
“For me, he’s got everything. He’s calm on the ball, he can defend very well, his positioning is great. I’m very happy he’s here and excited to learn from him.
He doesn’t speak English that well just yet but he speaks French, so I can help him with that and so can a few other boys,” Zouma said, as quoted by the club’s official website.
Silva may be on the wrong side of 35 as he just turned 36 recently but he still has got the ability to excel in the new League as he has shown in the previous two matches against Manchester United and Sevilla.
The Brazilian centre-back is already showing his leadership skills on the pitch and has severely influenced the ones surrounding him to perform better despite not speaking English. The defence has been a serious issue since Lampard has taken the managerial position at Chelsea and there’s nop doubt over it.
The influencing figure of Silva has been hugely missed by the Blues since John Terry left the club and looks like the perfect man has arrived just at the right time. Not only it will be an immense help to the defenders around him, but also the winning mentality will be injected into the young blood of the club.
