Midfield maestro N’Golo Kante is in line to miss the forthcoming weekend clash against Manchester United, according to the Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.
Kante had sustained an injury in the Blues’ 4-0 win over Italian giants Juventus in the midweek game at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League which ensured Thomas Tuchel’s men booking their spot in the Last-16.
The France international picked up a knee injury in the game and will be sidelined for Sunday’s derby against Manchester United, confirmed Thomas Tuchel in his pre-match press conference ahead of the high-billed fixture.
“N’Golo twisted his knee a little bit [against Juventus]. He feels quite better since the game but it seems like he will be out for some days or one week maybe. We have a little hope but it would be almost a miracle if he makes it [to play Manchester United].”
Tuchel will have a major concern on the squad selection in the aftermath of Kante’s injury with Croatian international Mateo Kovacic also a long-term absentee for the west Londoners.
The Chelsea boss sounded out that Kovacic remains on the recovery table and is not in the fray to feature come Sunday against Manchester United.
“Kova is still out for the game on Sunday.
