N’Golo Kante to miss Juventus clash after positive COVID-19 test

Chelsea’s star midfield man N’Golo Kante is set to miss Wednesday night’s Juventus clash after a positive COVID-19 test for the France international, revealed Thomas Tuchel.

The Blues are set for an away fixture at the Allianz Stadium against Juventus in the midweek contest but Kante will not be playing any part in the game as well as the Southampton clash later this week in the Premier League.

Speaking to reporters in his pre-match presser ahead of the Champions League group stage fixture for the west London giants, Thomas Tuchel confirmed that Kante had joined the injury list alongside recent absentees in Christian Pulisic, Reece James and Mason Mount.

“Christian [Pulisic], Reece [James] and Mason [Mount] are out through injury. N’Golo [Kanté] has tested positive for Covid-19.”

Kante had returned to the Chelsea fold in the very recent past following an ankle injury and turned out in the weekend defeat to Manchester City, a first for the Blues in this new season.

Tuchel’s men will be backed to return to winning ways when they take on Juventus who despite a slow start to their domestic campaign have recorded three wins in their last four outings.
