Chelsea were handed a major boost on the squad selection front ahead of this weekend’s league matchup against Brentford with N’Golo Kante reporting back to training.
The World Cup-winning French midfielder had been missing in action for Thomas Tuchel’s side prior to the international break following his positive diagnosis for COVID-19.
His absence in the Chelsea first-team fold had meant Tuchel being forced to give an outing to his summer deadline day signing Saul Niguez who has not hit the ground running since his move to the Bridge from Atletico Madrid.

Kante was also forced to sit out France’s fixtures during the ongoing break from club football but will now be in the mix for Chelsea ahead of the high-billed game away at Brentford on Saturday.
Reports from the club’s official website confirm that the 30-year-old midfield maestro has staged his much-anticipated return to team training at Chelsea’s Cobham facility after completing his period of self-isolation.
“N’Golo Kante has returned to training following his period of isolation from Covid-19.”
“The French midfielder tested positive for Covid ahead of the Champions League trip to Juventus, but after completing his period of self-isolation he is now clear to resume training.
“Kante trained away from the main group, working on his fitness with a number of individual drills, with the aim to integrate him after the international break.”
