Neymar’s Encouragement boost Thiago Silva’s move to Chelsea

Chelsea signed the Brazil defender, Thiago Silva on a free transfer from the Champions League runner’s up, Paris Saint-German. Frank Lampard found the availability of Silva and didn’t hesitate to offer him a new proposition of adding experience to his leaky defense.

The Telegraph reports that the veteran defender was ‘immediately’ attracted by the prospect of joining Chelsea.

According to the reports, Thiago Silva consulted Neymar during PSG’s Champions League preparations in Lisbon, and the Brazilian forward encouraged him to make the move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s hierarchy, including the club’s owner Roman Abramovich, was unanimous in their decision to sign Thiago Silva.

The 35-year-old has spent eight seasons with PSG and joined Chelsea with an option to extend his one-year contract for a second season.

The Brazilian had already decided on his future before PSG made a late attempt to convince their captain to stay after his stellar season in Paris.

“He is happy to discover the Premier League,” said Thiago Silva’s agent, Paulo Tonietto.

“We had a lot of offers, but Chelsea is one of the world’s top 10 clubs.

“Physically, Thiago can play for another five or six years at the highest level. He is an athlete who looks after himself.”

“He doesn’t drink, he doesn’t smoke, he doesn’t party. His life is home – work and work – home.”

According to The Telegraph reports, a source at Chelsea has described Thiago Silva’s role as an ‘unofficial assistant manager on the pitch’.

The Brazilian center-back will work closely with Lampard’s coaching staff to get the club running towards their desired success.

Moreover, Thiago Silva will add experience to Chelsea’s young backline.
