Newcastle United are looking at bringing in midfield man Ross Barkley from the Chelsea fold come January when the transfer window reopens.
According to reports from The Telegraph, it is claimed that the Blues first-team outcast is among the players being eyed by the new Newcastle ownership who took control earlier this year.
The Saudi-based owners are backed to spend big in the transfer market and bolster the Magpies ranks with the likes of Jesse Lingard, Ross Barkley, Nat Phillips, James Tarkowski, Kieran Trippier and Harry Winks featuring on the wishlist.
Barkley has failed to cement his berth in the Chelsea fold under Thomas Tuchel’s charge and the gaffer could be convinced into accepting an offer that comes his way in the January window and sanction Barkley’s departure from the English capital.
Tuchel has midfield targets of his own in the market with Saul Niguez’s summer signing proving to be a dud as the German coach steps up the chase for AS Monaco star man Aurélien Tchouaméni who has his heart set on a move to the Premier League.
