Injury Update

Mendy diagnosed with a minor thigh strain and likely to be out for 2 weeks

Edouard Mendy moved to English Premier League from Ligue 1 to join Chelsea this summer. The goalkeeper was a part of Chelsea’s big-spending which saw the signing of many star players. Although Mendy is not as glamorous as the other signed names, fans were very elated to see him.

The Chelsea fans wanted to see a new keeper between the sticks as they were frustrated with Kepa Arrizabalaga’s horrendous keeping since the last term. Till now, the former Rennes keeper has featured in two matches for Chelsea and gave an impressive performance in the Carabao Cup against Tottenham.

But during the international break with Senegal, he got injured with a thigh strain. It was confirmed by the Senegalese FA that he won’t feature in the remaining games of Senegal. This concerned the Chelsea fans as it was rumoured that Edouard Mendy can be sidelined for six to eight weeks for the injury.

However, recently the injury news got updated when Mendy himself took Instagram to post his injury status. As per early diagnostics, the injury is a minor one and he will be out only for a maximum of two weeks.

Currently, Mendy is recovering at the club’s training ground in Cobham where he is preparing to return as fast as possible.

He wrote as per The TeamTalk news, “Little hitch, I’m going to do everything I can to come back faster and stronger.

Thank you all for your messages.”

The Blues will face Southampton on the coming Saturday and Kep will likely to feature instead of the injured Mendy.
