Injury Update

Mauricio Pochettino provides a positive injury update ahead of Burnley clash

Chelsea have received positive news on the injury front as they prepare for their Premier League match against Burnley on Saturday.

Mauricio Pochettino has stated that Moises Caicedo and Mykhailo Mudryk, who had injury concerns last weekend, are both included in the traveling squad for the upcoming match.

Both players played crucial roles in Chelsea’s recent 2-0 victory over Fulham, which was only the team’s second Premier League win of the 2023-24 season.

Mudryk scored his first goal for the Blues, capitalizing on a well-placed through ball from Levi Colwill and finishing past Bernd Leno. However, the winger did not come out for the second half due to an injury concern.

Caicedo also had an impressive performance in midfield, with a perfect long-ball accuracy rate of 100% and winning seven out of ten ground battles.

However, his fitness became an issue late into stoppage time, leading to his substitution by Noni Madueke.

Fortunately, both Caicedo and Mudryk have passed fitness tests ahead of Chelsea’s upcoming trip to face Burnley, as confirmed by manager Mauricio Pochettino in his pre-match press conference.

As quoted by Football London, he said:

“Yes, both in the squad. We will decide later whether they have a chance for the start. It was close last week to join us. I still have not decided – I need to check with the medical staff as I’m straight from the training pitch and thirty minutes late – I am sorry for that.”

Following the introduction of their newly announced front-of-shirt sponsorship deal with Infinite Athlete, Chelsea will be eager to continue their two-match winning streak in Lancashire.

Mudryk will be growing in confidence after his first PL goal for his club and Caicedo will be eager to prove his doubters wrong by putting in another strong performance.

Burnley will be a tricky test for the Blues since Vincent Kompany’s side won their last game against Luton Town and are looking to continue grabbing points.

Hence, the Blues’ attacking output will be crucial as they have struggled to score goals against weaker opponents as well. Nicolas Jackson would be hungry to add more numbers to his tally in the next match.
