Mauricio Pochettino edging closer to becoming the new Chelsea manager

Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly edging closer to becoming the new Chelsea manager with talks between the club and the coach at an advanced stage.

The Argentine manager had emerged as the new front runner for the Stamford Bridge hot seat after previous favourite Julian Julian Nagelsmann dropped out of the running despite being seen as a serious contender to make the move to west London.

According to a report from The Guardian, it is now indicated that Pochettino is closing in on a return to management after he held positive talks with the Chelsea hierarchy and further discussions took place on Monday.

He could become the third permanent manager to work under the new Chelsea ownership of Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali who are under pressure from all sections to make the right appointment after a chaotic first season under their charge.

Chelsea’s plan is believed to point towards the caretaker boss Frank Lampard see out the season and then hand over the reins to the incoming head coach Pochettino in the summer and building his team for the next campaign.
