Manchester City turned down move for Chelsea’s deadline day signing Saul Niguez

Manchester City turned down a move for Chelsea’s deadline day signing Saul Niguez with Pep Guardiola deciding against signing the midfielder from Atletico Madrid.

The 26-year-old Saul joins Thomas Tuchel’s Blues on a season-long loan arrangement with an option to buy for Chelsea who are relishing the arrival of the highly-rated Spain international this summer.

Reports from The Daily Star have claimed that Manchester City dismissed intentions of wanting to land Saul in the final stages of the summer transfer window which gave Chelsea the green light to push for the deal.

The defending Premier League champions’ boss Pep Guardiola was not keen on a cash-plus-player deal involving forward player Bernardo Silva move in the opposite direction to Atletico Madrid and Saul to the Etihad Stadium.

Saul was then unveiled soon as Chelsea’s new recruit on the block with the Spaniard penning a loan deal with the west Londoners who have the option to make the transfer permanent next summer.
