New Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel says he intends to make his new side play like an orchestra. He explained that he sometimes prefers having good performances from his teams than results, provided everything works perfectly.
He did, however, admit that he would be happier with a lucky win than an undeserved defeat before the Blues visited Jose Mourinho’s Spurs at the White Hart Lane. Chelsea claimed a 1-0 victory to put them in a strong position to finish in the top four. The former Paris Saint Germaine coach says he often overlooks the scoreline to see the direction in which things are moving. Understandably, he is a man used to winning, having guided the Parisians to numerous Ligue 1 trophies, where his star-studded side had made winning a norm.
The German is asking his troops and the Blues fans to trust the long-term vision he has for the club, even when the team is on the losing end. Follow and bet on all Chelsea next fixtures with Betway soccer betting for a chance to win real money.
“For that we need a good relationship between the players and me. The results will hopefully follow. In the Premier League you cannot control the result.” Tuchel said. “But we can take care of our performance. There will arrive moments when I went into the dressing room after the match and it was a draw, even a defeat, and I was praising the performance.”
“But I had to prove it. It is not enough if I say: ‘I was happy.’ We have to be clear what performance is. What do I need to do? What does the manager expect from me and why? What does the team expect from me as a player and how should we play together as a group?”
Chelsea’s last outing was an FA Cup affair against Championship side, and Betway underdogs Barnsley at Oakwell. Tammy Abraham won it for the new manager to make it four wins and one draw for Tuchel in his first five matches.
“In the end it’s like an orchestra. We have to follow a certain rhythm. We have to follow a certain discipline, a speed, a style. There will arrive matches where we win and we will be absolutely unhappy and we will show the team why.” Continued Tuchel. “If you ask me if I prefer tomorrow to win lucky or I lose undeserved, I go for a lucky win. Of course. With a win it’s easier to improve.”
Chelsea dominated proceedings against Barnsley but had only one shot on target throughout the match which Abraham scored from. Tuchel will ask for more from his side, especially going forward. His next assignment is a Premier League tie against Newcastle at the Bridge on Monday. Fans can bet on numerous markets with Betway, along with other matches slated for the coming week.
Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard last month on an 18-month deal and will be tasked with delivering a better challenge both in the EPL and in the UEFA Champions League. Chelsea lie fifth in the Premier League with 39 points from 23 matches.
