The Bavarian made an initial bid of £53million in earlier June but their hope had then been shattered by the stubborn Bayer board, reluctant to any interests to keep hold of their agile superstar.

Arsenal were involved a series of high profile signings throughout the transfer window and is now involved in making the best out of their business in the post Wenger era. So as things stands, Leon’s preferred destination is turning out to be, undoubtedly, Stamford Bridge.
