Kylian Mbappe may join Chelsea only on one condition this summer

According to Spanish outlet Sport, Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe, who desires to leave the club, may be open to a sensational transfer to Chelsea. However, there is a significant condition attached to the potential move.

PSG are looking to offload the French attacker due to his refusal to sign a new contract and rejecting a world-record transfer to Saudi Arabia. The club is seeking around £215m for him, but few clubs can afford such a price.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has initiated talks with PSG’s Nasser Al Khelaifi and intends to present an offer to reunite Mbappe with manager Mauricio Pochettino.

However, Sport in Spain suggests that the potential deal might collapse since the 24-year-old is reportedly willing to join Stamford Bridge for only one year. This development has dampened fans’ excitement about the possible transfer.

The World Cup winner is in the final year of his PSG contract, making him eligible for a free transfer to Real Madrid next summer. As a result, he is hesitant to commit to Chelsea, as it might jeopardize his dream move to the Bernabeu.

Chelsea still have a slim chance of securing Mbappe on a one-year contract or possibly on loan, with the player then moving to Real Madrid in 2024.

Real Madrid are unwilling to meet PSG’s high transfer fee demands for Mbappe, knowing they can get him for free next year.

If an agreement is not reached within a month, Mbappe could face the possibility of being sidelined from the PSG squad alongside other unwanted players for the entire season.

However, PSG are aware of the financial burden of paying Mbappe’s significant wages without utilizing him, so they might consider allowing him to leave on loan or reintegrating him into the squad.

The new French national team captain has been linked with potential transfers to Liverpool and Barcelona.
