The Croatian midfielder, Kovacic has been loaned to Chelsea for a season-long loan deal. He featured in 5 games for Croatia in the World Cup. Despite being off the field more often than not, Kovacic was able to make 100 appearances for Los Blancos in his three year campaign. He won the Champions league each season he played for Madrid.
Upon arriving at Stamford Bridge, Kovacic said: ‘I am really happy and excited to be here at Chelsea. It is an amazing feeling. I will try to do my best for this club. It is a new league for me, the beginning is always tough but I am sure the coach and my new team-mates will help me and I am looking forward to a great season.’
Why Kovacic?
The style of play of Kovacic perfectly matches with the way Maurizio Sarri plays and would like a player to be in his ‘A’ team. Kovacic can play anywhere across the midfield and his passing abilities when combined with hard work is like cherry on the cake. The director of Chelsea Marina Granovskaia is very happy and feels that the player will prove to be a valuable asset for the Blues.
“It will be on Sarri, how he uses the three time Champions League winner to bring Uefa’s biggest league cup London.”
