Kai Havertz is set to face the defending champions, Liverpool on Sunday. The German winger, who moved at a record signing of £72 million from Bayer Leverkusen made his debut appearance for Chelsea on Monday. Although his side won the game 3-1 against Brighton, he was extremely ineffective in Lmapard’s 4-3-3 formation.
It was a quiet night for Kai Havertz while his fellow teammate, Timo Werner shined in his first competitive debut.
It was one of his below-average games where he played until the 80th minute before getting substituted. Blues manager admitted of not putting any pressure on the record fee signing of the German international.
He revealed that the league is much different than what he was used to in Germany and the Brighton match was difficult for him.
“The Premier League is much tougher than the Bundesliga. I have seen that in training and saw it in the game as well. But I am happy to play 80 minutes and hopefully next week I will continue.”
On speaking about the Liverpool match, Havertz was seen not to be too worried.
Havertz has revealed he found it difficult against the Seagulls before adding that Chelsea have nothing to fear when they take on the Premier League champions at the weekend
“It was a very tough game, very difficult because I had long holidays and I came back and trained for five or six days with the team,” said Havertz. “More important is that we won so I am very happy to make my debut.”
He then said on Jurgen Klopp’s side: “Of course they are one of the best teams in the world. We show respect but we are a very great team as well.”
“It will be a very hard game but for them also. We will work hard and I think we will have a chance to take points.”
Kai believes that his side will definitely take points from the Reds as the two sides prepare to meet at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
