Juventus edged out a narrow 1-0 win against the Champions League holders Chelsea on Wednesday night at the Allianz Stadium.

Chelsea started the game well on the attacking front with Hakim Ziyech and Romelu Lukaku leading the charge for getting the better of a solid-looking Juventus defence.

Ziyech fed Lukaku an inviting delivery into the box but the latter’s effort went straight to Wojciech Szczesny who kept it out as Juventus looked to cause trouble on the other end of the pitch after a Mateo Kovacic misplaced pass but to no avail.

Rabiot went close with his effort on goal just before the half-time break, however, the Frenchman’s strike could only crash against the crossbar with both sides heading into the break at nil-nil.

The hosts piled up the pressure on the Chelsea backline on the start of the second half and reaped rich dividends through star forward Chiesa slotting his finish past Mendy into the back of the net to make it 1-0 for the Italians.

Kai Havertz nearly forced Juventus midfield man Manuel Locatelli to divert the ball into his own net for an own goal as the Blues remained on the hunt for a much-needed leveller.

Chelsea looked to threaten later on in the game and Lukaku enjoyed a fair share of those chances in front of the goal but the hosts managed to put out a resilliant defensive display to claim the win.
