Journalists wants to know more about Chelsea keeper, Edouard Mendy from Lampard

Chelsea coach, Frank Lampard is sure that there is a lot more of Senegalese keeper, Edouard Mendy to show after his fantastic start of career at Stamford Bridge.

This came following the 28 years old’s recent move from Ligue 1 club, Rennes to compete with Chelsea’s struggling and error-prone Spanish keeper, Kepa Arrizablaga at a worth of £22 million.

The Senegal international has become the first Chelsea keeper to claim the record of consecutive three clean-sheets in the Premier League games since the legendary keeper of Chelsea, Petr Cech. Mendy has achieved a total of six clean sheets in seven games that he played for his side in all competitions.

Even the journalists were keen to know more about him since he was not known name until he joined the Blues. The Chelsea coach opened about his personality in training and say that he is in awe of his displays and there is more potential to get unlocked in the future.

“I am sure he will improve as it is really early days for him at the club he is settling in, still to a degree,” he told media as per the Chelsea website.

“I am very confident in him and he has shown great qualities so far and I think there is a lot more to come, with his attitude which is key. I have seen how he wants to work, how he wants to be and the humility in him – I think he can go much further in many departments.

“What I have seen in a short period of time with Edouard is a player that has a massive work ethic to train and push himself every day. It seems his personality is pretty laid back with a tough edge when it comes to work. He has shown his qualities that we brought him into the club for.

“All the feedback was he had a great personality, a strong personality in the dressing room, and everything I heard, all those positives, came true. It seems his personality is pretty laid-back with a tough edge when it comes to work.

Mendy yet again maintained a clean sheet in the UCL match he played against Rennes and defeated them 3-0. Lampard also said about being sure that Mendy has more talent than what we’ve seen so far when asked about the comments from Petr Cech on Mendy’s high performance.

What he has shown so far is very complete,’ said Lampard.

‘He’s made saves that have helped us, and if the goal had gone in the game could have gone against us. Against Manchester United particularly the first-half save against Rashford with his feet was a top-class save.

The fans are sure too, about Mendy being the lucky charm for Chelsea and his fine display will keep Kepa out of the starting XI undoubtedly.
