Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos has once again voiced doubts over the midfielder’s long-term future in the Chelsea shirt following his success at the European Championships with the Italy national team.
The Chelsea star first-teamer was an influential presence on the Italy teamsheet and was key to their victory in the Wembley showdown over England after a tense penalty shootout.
Santos has in the past caused much speculation to arise over his client extending his current deal at Stamford Bridge which runs out in less than two years heading into the start of the 2021-22 campaign next month.
In an interview with Calciomercato, Santos admitted that a number of clubs from Italy’s Serie A had registered their interest in the 29-year-old Jorginho’s services as he praised his client’s ability on the pitch and backed to him succeed at some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Santos, however, revealed that Jorginho was in line to stay put in London beyond this summer’s transfer window and that he would be open to a new deal coming his way from the Chelsea board in the near future.
“I confirm it, these interests have arrived.
“Of course, at 29 he can do very well in all the top European clubs and many are interested in him.”
“He has a two-year contract, and it’s all in the hands of the club.
“There is the World Club Championship, there is the European Super Cup.
“For a footballer these are important goals. But, the transfer market is always the transfer market and if a major club comes forward seriously with Chelsea then we will evaluate.
“At the moment, Jorginho will play it at Chelsea next season.”
