Jorginho is pondering over a return former club Napoli should the Chelsea midfield general decide to call it quits at Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window, the player’s agent has revealed.
The Italian international is long linked with a move back to his homeland but the rumours had seemingly died down since Serie A giants Juventus gave the sack to Jorginho’s ex-Chelsea and Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri.
But with Sarri now reported to be in the reckoning to replace Gennaro Gattuso at Napoli, reports from the Daily Mail cite Jorginho’s agent Jorge Santos revealing that the 28-year-old was certain to evaluate a prospective offer from Napoli in the summer.
‘There are many rumours about that because he did so well at Napoli,’ Santos said.
‘It’s a special moment for him. He is an important player for Chelsea now. However, he is an Italy international, and we are thinking about a return to Serie A if he leaves the Blues.
‘If Napoli will make an offer, we’ll evaluate it. He had a great time in Naples, and he has many friends over there.
‘We all know Sarri likes Jorginho, but we need to understand the market and the economic situation. I don’t know what’s going to happen.’
New Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is understood to be desirous of a major summer rebuild at Stamford Bridge as the Blues have hit the ground running in a swift manner post the German taking over from the under-fire Frank Lampard.
Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland and Bayern Munich defender Niklas Sule are two names believed to be high on Tuchel’s wishlist for the summer window.
