Chelsea midfielder Jorginho’s agent revealed that his client could be set for a contract extension at Stamford Bridge as he dismissed rumours of apparent interest from Serie A giants Juventus.
The Italian master passes has been linked with a return to Italy to join defending Serie A champions Juventus, where his former Napoli and Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is currently in charge. Jorginho initially came across some criticism from the Chelsea fans and even former pundits due to his below-par performances for the Blues.
The 28-year-old was linked with an exit from west London in the summer as Sarri was keen on reuniting with Jorginho at Turin. However, Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos insisted that he had never heard anything from Juventus regarding Jorginho moving back to Italy.
Santos further explained that Jorginho could extend his deal at the Premier League club, where he is contracted until 2023.
While speaking to news outlets in Italy Santos confirmed that there was no interest from Juventus for his client Jorginho “Juventus? I read around, but I never had any contact with them, To date, I know absolutely nothing about this situation.”
Santos then stated that Jorginho is reportedly happy in the English capital and is keen on showing his worth to the Chelsea faithful possibly extending his contract with the club, “He is very happy in London, where he is showing his worth and where he still has three more years of the contract. And in July, there is the possibility of adding a fourth and opening negotiations for a renewal of the contract with Chelsea. Not to know what may be the strategies of Juventus, but these are the plans for our future and I repeat, to date, neither Juventus nor any other team has come forward to Jorge.”
Jorginho has made 26 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, scoring four goals this season before the campaign was suspended indefinitely due to the coronavirus outbreak.
