Inter Milan keen on signing Alonso in January

Serie A side Inter Milan are keen on signing Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso according to reports. Antonio Conte is keen on signing Marcos Alonso from Chelsea but Inter may struggle to finance any potential deal, while Olivier Giroud and Pedro could also move on in January.

Alonso has grown unhappy at Stamford Bridge after being dropped by manager Frank Lampard since he was substituted in the first half of the 4-4 home draw against Ajax on November 5.

He has since not been included in Chelsea’s last five Premier League matchday squads and is now a target for Inter boss Antonio Conte. In 2016, it was Conte who brought Alonso to Chelsea, and right now, he wants to sign the defender once again on loan with no obligation to buy – according to recent reports.

But the Blues want to sell him outright if possible and replace him with Leicester’s Ben Chilwell or Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake.

Alonso, shined in Conte’s system at Chelsea but has increasingly fallen out of favor, first with Sarri and now with Lampard as well. Alonso did sign a new five-year contract just 13 months ago which could prove a massive hurdle for any potential January move.

Chilwell is reportedly Lampard’s No.1 choice to take on the left-back berth at Chelsea and Barcelona are also credited with an interest in Alonso. Giroud and Pedro are in a similar situation to Alonso.

The attacking duo have managed just nine appearances in the Premier League this season between them. With both their contracts expiring next summer, Giroud and Pedro will be free to speak to other clubs in January about a free transfer in the summer.
