The Germany international made his debut in the 3-1 win over Brighton where he played 90 minutes and earned a penalty for Chelsea’s first goal. He collided with Brighton goalkeeper, Maty RyanBut whilst winning the penalty.
This collision made him suffer throughout the game and he struggled to play the full 90 minutes.
Werner had a large ice pack strapped to his knee when he was conducting his post-match interviews. This sparked concerns amongst the Blues fans about his picking up an injury.
He said that during the collision, the knee of the goalkeeper hit directly him in the muscle making the muscles extremely stiff. He was seen limping.
When asked about his leg, he replied: ‘It was from the penalty.”
‘For the rest of the game, it hurt a lot and I couldn’t do some movements because the muscle went very hard, but at the end, I’m happy that we won.”
When asked if he is concerned about his injury or not, he remarked about just focusing on the results.
“I don’t care about this. We played a good game today, we did well.”
Werner impressed throughout his top-flight bow with clever off-the-ball movement and his electrifying pace.

Werner had his leg heavily iced after the final whistle. But Chelsea still expects him to be ready to take on the Reds this weekend. On injury updates of Werner, Lampard says that he thinks it to be a dead leg.
“I wouldn’t think too much in terms of next week there but I’d think it was a dead leg.
We’ve got a bit of time for him to get right,” said the Blues coach.
When asked whether he would be fit for the next match against Liverpool, he seemed positive.
He responded: “Of course. Games like this you are always fit.”
Timo Werner has assured the fans that he will be fit to play against Liverpool and that is basically what Lampard and co. wants.
