“I would’ve stayed in Chelsea if I knew about Silva Transfer,” joked Willian

Former Chelsea winger, Willian joked about staying in Chelsea if he knew that his compatriot Thiago Silva would be moving to Stamford Bridge.

The veteran Brazilian defender joined the Blues after eight trophy-laden years with Paris Saint-Germain. He was the main man leading the team to the UCL final last season as a captain. He switched to Chelsea from Paris at the age of 35 on a free transfer.

However, the Brazilian winger might not have moved to the Arsenal had he known about his international colleague’s next steps.

As per The Telegraph, Willian’s response to the deal was: “If I’d known you were moving to Chelsea, I would have stayed there after all.”

Thiago’s Brazilian teammate at the club, Neymar is said to have played a key role in his move to the Stamford Bridge. It is due to Neymar’s urges that Silva took the new challenge so late in his career.
