Graeme Souness Reveals Why Chelsea Won’t Win The Premier League Title

Former Liverpool star Graeme Souness has revealed that Chelsea won’t be able to rival Liverpool and Manchester City to the Premier League title this season.

The Blues’ faithful will have plenty to say after Liverpool legend Graeme Souness revealed that Chelsea is not worthy to win the Premier League title despite their amazing unbeaten start to the campaign. Chelsea is currently in 2nd place on the Premier League table and takes on Merseyside club Everton this weekend as they sit just two points off leaders Manchester City.

Maurizio Sarri has done a tremendous job so far with the West London outfit but that hasn’t really impressed Graeme Souness. The Scotsman tore into Chelsea and claimed that their true character will be revealed after they lose a few games.

While writing on his Column for the Times, the 65-year-old Souness explained that Chelsea is short of a world class striker who can score goals for them on a regular basis, “Chelsea are still a striker short of winning the Premier League. Ultimately, that could cost them as they compete for the title. You need a 20-plus goalscorer up front and I’m not sure they can sign a striker better than Alvaro Morata or Olivier Giroud in January.”

Souness also took a dig at the Chelsea gaffer Sarri, for not really having the experience to manage a big club, “Sarri has done a great job so far. He has them all enjoying their football, but the test will come when they lose a couple of games.

“Sarri’s is a strange story when you consider his career. He has had 18 jobs in 28 years, mostly at small clubs in Italy, and only in the past two, Empoli then Napoli, did he really settle down, for three years at each.”

Maybe Souness is being too harsh on Sarri at the moment because the Italian has done an admirable job from where Antonio Conte left off. However, there will be tougher tests to come in the near future as it’s never easy being a Chelsea manager, Sarri still has to fix up some pieces in his squad.
