Frank Lampard has turned up and takes up social media first time since he has been sacked as the manager of Chelsea. The club for which Lampard contributed both as a player and a manager has taken a harsh decision and replaced him owning the miserable situation of the club in the current Premier League standings. Even a heroic win over Luton Town was not enough to save the job for Lampard.
Frank Lampard has said he is ‘disappointed’ to not been given a chance to take Chelsea forward again. He took the club when it was at its worst with a transfer ban and their main man, Eden Hazard leaving. Still, he took the club in the Premier League top four.
Lampard is the legendary figure of Chelsea but still, that didn’t help him to become immune from getting sacked by owner Roman Abramovich and his hire-to-fire style. Chelsea was amongst the table topper earlier this season, but a poor performance saw them slip to ninth place in the Premier League and resulted in Lampard’s departure.
Abramovich issued a rare statement upon Lampard’s exit, saying he has “an excellent personal relationship” with his former manager and said he “will always be warmly welcomed back at Stamford Bridge.”
“It has been a huge privilege and an honor to manage Chelsea, a club that has been a huge part of my life for so long,” Lampard wrote,’ Lampard took to Instagram.
“Firstly, I would like to thank the fans for the incredible support that I have received for the last 18 months. I hope they know what that means to me.”
“When I took on this role I understood the challenges that lay ahead in a difficult time for the football club,” he added. “I wish the club and the team every success in the future.”
The 47-year-old Thomas Tuchel has been appointed this week, with his first game with Wolves in the Premier League on Wednesday finished with a draw. His aim will be to take the Blues as high he can in the Premier League table and secure the Champions League qualifications being in the top four.
